An incident that happened to a friend during the lead-up to the 2010 election served as the seed that has grown in to the Patriots Business Alliance.
In August of 2010 a friend of mine was involved in an automobile accident. Fortunately, he wasn’t hurt. Unfortunately, his vehicle was “nearly totaled”. So he had it towed to the repair facility that was located near his home and on his insurance company’s list of approved shops and started the several week wait for his vehicle to be repaired.
In late September, he was informed that his vehicle was ready for him to pick up. The insurance company sent him a check, made out to the repair facility, for about $8000 that he then took to pick up his car. When he arrived at the repair facility to present them with their $8000 check he was greeted by campaign signs for every liberal, Progressive candidate for any elected office in his area.
Now my friend, being a very solid small-government Patriot activist, told me the disappointment that he was giving an $8000 check to a business that appeared to support everything he was working hard to stop was gut-wrenching. His remark was, “I sure wish I had known that these were their political leanings, because I would have tried to find another facility that was more in keeping with my politics.”
From this episode the whole idea behind the Patriots Business Alliance was born and the Motto of the organization “Voting With Our Dollars to Save THE Republic” popped in to my head. And I have been building on this initial idea every since.
